I have been getting ready to write a letter for a long time, and finally got around to it.
In July 2018, my son was in your basketball camp. I will immediately make a reservation that I am not an expert in basketball, I am just the mother of an 11-year-old boy who is passionate about basketball.
When sending my child to you, I understood that he had a number of problems with technique, although my son is in the top five players on the team.
Already at the first training session, I realized that this is not a number of problems, this is a whole abyss! In essence, the lack of basic basketball skills: poorly catches the ball, poorly passes, does not know how to get into the right basketball stance, incorrect throwing technique. Three weeks of hard work turned into a whole separate little life! It was difficult for my son, especially the first week. BUT! After the camp, he said: “Send me to Sasha again! I want to go to this camp again!” I asked why he wanted this, because it was very difficult, hard. He answered that although it was difficult, he sees the result! Indeed, my son began to feel completely different on the court: his throwing technique, dribbling, defense improved, he began to understand that he does not need to run after the ball in a crowd, but to calculate where it is better to be on the court in order to be more effective in a dangerous moment, confidence in his movements appeared. Of course, my son worked hard during these three weeks, but without you, without the coaching team, this would simply be impossible! Communicating with other parents at the camp, I realized that all children of different ages from different corners of our vast Motherland have the same problems as my son.
You allow us (parents and children) to solve these problems. You create the opportunity and conditions for children to develop their abilities, to achieve their dream of playing basketball at a high professional level! By doing so, you do a lot of good not only for Russian basketball, but for basketball in general!
It’s great that your camp had children not only from Russia, but also from Bulgaria, Serbia, and Israel. The desire to communicate with children from other countries encourages us to study foreign languages!
